What is the Can Do Community Grant?
This is a grant for people who wish to make the residents of Tower Hamlets become healthier.
The project must involve one or more of the following priorities:
• Active Lives
• Active Travel
• Healthy Food
How much money can we get?
Maximum £500 to fund a specific project or activity.
What geographical area does a Can Do Grant cover?
The Osmani Trust administers the grant for residents living in LAP area 1 &2. If you fall outside this area but live in Tower Hamlets you can still apply through the community groups administering the Can Do grant.
Who are the beneficiaries?
85% of participants must live in Tower Hamlets.
Who can apply for a Can Do Grant?
You can apply for a Can Do Grant if you are the following:
• An Individual or a group of individuals
• Community Group
• Not for profit group
• Clubs and Societies
• Young People
How long should the project last?
Project should be complete by March 2011 however projects that lasts a day can also be funded as long as it is good value for money.
Who decides and approves applications?
A Panel consisting of members from the local community just like you and me
What is the purpose for the grant?
To give people the opportunity to lead and develop skills through the duration of the project and to help others especially the hard to reach and in making Tower Hamlets a healthier Borough
What are the closing dates?
There are two closing dates this year:
• 01st June 2010
• 17th September 2010
If you miss any of the rounds then your application will automatically be forwarded to the next round.
Who’s not eligible or projects that cannot be funded?
• Applicants that are paid to run the project
• Promotion of a political ideology
• Travel Overseas
• The purchase or improvement of a building
• Large organisations
