Hundreds attend Family Road Show

Osmani Trust to much acclaim and appreciation from parents and family members have held their first successful Family Road Show on Friday 8th April 2011 at Bigland Green Primary School. Parents, guardians and carers of primary school pupils as well as local residents were invited to participate and attend the open informative and enjoyable day.

The Family Road Show was a community event that sought to encourage positive participation from children, young people and adults to the wide range of community, health and sporting services and provisions available at the Osmani Trust, a localised community and youth organisation that works throughout Tower Hamlets to enhance health and social welfare. Attendees of the Road Show numbered near four hundred participants- with the vast majority of the school pupils and accompanying guardians partaking in the activities offered.

The event allowed for an opportunity for parents and guardians to be part of a vibrant family friendly atmosphere that consisted of enjoyable, enriching and engaging activities for parental participation as well as for young children. Activities during the Family Road Show included Henna eastern hand decoration, face painting, t-shirt design and printing, arts, ceramics and crafts, health checks, games and football sessions, bouncy castle with healthy food, drink and dessert as refreshment

A parent and local resident who was in attendance shared her thoughts by stating,
“Personally I am glad that I took this time to attend, it has been tremendous so far- the children are loving it and seem to be having a wonderful time with all that’s on offer- it’s been a chore trying to drag them away! Thank you; do consider another Road Show here (at Bigland Primary School) soon.”
The Road Show was an opportunity to inform and receive feedback on the building of a new state of the art community, health and youth centre at the heart of East London. The Osmani Centre building is scheduled to be completed later this year and will contain an Active Studio, Community Cafe, Education & Employment Services, IT & Training Room, Multi-purpose Hall, Youth Club and Gym and so much more set to uplift, add vibrancy and create opportunities for all.
Abu Mu’min, Senior Manager of Osmani Trust said, “This day has been very beneficial meeting with so many parents and guardians of young children and listening to their needs and concerns within the local community. The professionalism of teachers and staff at Bigland Green deserves particular merit.”

Anthony Carmel, Deputy Head teacher of Bigland Green Primary expressed,
“Everyone just had a fantastic time on the day; they’ve thoroughly enjoyed themselves- it’s been a great success.”

Osmani Trust would like to thank Bigland Green Primary School for allowing us to host the Road Show and access to help children, parents and guardians on the day. We look forward to future partnership work with the school.
