On Thursday 29th October 2009 Cllr. Lutfur Rahman and Chief Executive Kevan Collins laid the symbolic first brick to commemorate the start of construction of the new Osmani Centre. The centre will replace the existing one which is over 150 years old. It will consist of state of the art youth and community facilities, including a youth gym, community cafe, and employment service.
Abu Hasanath of the Osmani Trust said, “These are truly exciting times for the Osmani Trust. This day represents a significant milestone in the capital development of the new Centre. Tower Hamlets Council have demonstrated their commitment in working with the local community in meeting local needs. I hope that they continue with their ongoing support and look forward to the opening of the new Osmani Centre.”
