Unbeaten Osmani!

Osmani Badminton Academy’s fantastic run to the start of the new season continued in full force when they won against Finsbury 5 – 4 to make it three out of three wins. Previous wins were against Young Lohan Sports and Sobel Badminton Clubs, both games won comfortably at 6 – 3 respectively. It was a very tight fought encounter with a very strong Finsbury team. Thanks to the ever reliable pair of Shoib Ahmed and Abdul Alim who won all their three matches, Osmani now sit top of the table with an eye for promotion. Osmani’s next match is away to joint league leaders Crescent Badminton Club who has also made a good start to the season. At one point the match was at a score-draw of 3 – 3, with Osmani needing to win two out the next three sets to win the match, which was accomplished with some fantastic badminton from both sides.

Aminur Rahman, Captain of Osmani, says that ‘it’s a good start, but a long season. We should continue working hard and use this success to promote badminton to the community to increase participation in the sport.’

Healthy Futures is one of eight projects of Osmani Trust, which is a youth and community charity organisation operating in East London.
